As a community of learners, we have adopted the Nevada Academic Content Standards for ELA and Mathematics and the Next Generation Science Standards for Science and STEAM classes. Coral Academy of Science has a defined rigorous curriculum for our K-8 students.

McGraw-Hill Wonders has a science-based design that fosters a love of reading for all children. This curriculum works through intentional instruction, inspiring content, and purposeful technology to prepare students for college and their future careers. Through the development of their skills as readers, writers, speakers, and active listeners, students experience the power of literacy.
In addition to Wonders, Grades K-1 use Heggerty Phonemic Awareness materials to build strong foundational skills in reading. It addresses skills such as manipulating, identifying, and blending sounds in words.
UFLI Foundations is an explicit and systematic program that teaches students the foundational skills
necessary for proficient reading. It follows a carefully developed scope and sequence designed to ensure
that students systematically acquire each skill needed and learn to apply each skill with automaticity
and confidence. The program is designed to be used for core instruction in the primary grades or for
intervention with struggling students in any grade.

Our math curriculum is Reveal Math. It is for Kindergarten through fifth-grade students. The program incorporates both inquiry-focused and teacher-guided instructional strategies within each lesson. Built-in differentiation easily incorporates readiness, extra practice, enrichment, and English language development into each lesson.

Our middle school students utilize McGraw-Hill StudySync in their English Language Arts classes. StudySync is a technology-focused curriculum with a selection of culturally diverse literature. StudySync infuses all the literature that grasps student interest, including a selection of texts from authors with diverse cultural backgrounds and gender identities. It provides differentiation and acceleration opportunities for every learner that tailors every single lesson to each student’s level of understanding and unique learning needs.

Our Middle School Students utilize McGraw Hill Glencoe Math in their mathematics classes. Glencoe Math is a program that stimulates critical thinking skills in students. The program is interactive and customizable, so teachers can differentiate to meet the needs of each student in their classroom. Glencoe Math is a rigorous curriculum with print and digital resources for students, teachers, and parents to use. Each lesson encourages high-order thinking and application of concepts ensuring students will be prepared for the Nevada SBAC.

Meeting our writing goals for all grade levels is achieved using both Thinking Maps and comprehensive reading curriculums. Our research-based writing instruction boosts our students' writing skills proficiently in writing narrative, personal narrative, persuasive, and expository pieces; actively engaging in
reading materials for improved comprehension, and demonstrating competent study skills.

For science, we are using PLTW and Inspired Science which are aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards. Next Generation Science Standards identifies the science all K-12 students should know. Our science lessons are rich in content and practice and arranged in a coherent manner across disciplines and grades to provide all students with an internationally benchmarked science education. We motivate, prepare, and support our students to strive and succeed in the 21st century focusing on STEM-based learning experiences. “PLTW taps into students’ exploratory nature, engages them in learning that feels like play, and encourages them to keep discovering – now and for any future they choose.”
